MIAMI – To commemorate the one year anniversary of the tragic collapse of Surfside’s Champlain Towers South, Swampspace Gallery will be hosting a special art exhibition. The opening reception will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 24, the day one year ago when the building came tumbling down and 98 lives were lost. The exhibition will run through July 24, 2022.
“With heavy hearts and mournful spirit, this installation aims to call upon our collective good will and offer a conciliatory reminder that all life is precious and fleeting,” said Oliver Sanchez, native artist, Surfside resident and owner of Swampspace.

The exhibition will also honor first responders and will feature artworks by Oliver Sanchez, along with Ruth Burotte, Sharif Salem, McLean Fletcher, Eddie Arroyo, Atomik, photography by Surfside Vice Mayor Tina Paul and Mark Diamond, Kiki Valdez, Ali Miranda and Reinier Gamboa. There will be a musical tribute from Surfside resident, Marcos Winer on opening night.
Proceeds will be donated to Global Empowerment Mission, an international disaster relief organization which provided assistance to the families of Surfside victims.
Swampspace Gallery is located at 3940 North Miami Ave. in the Miami Design District.
