Local 10’s Tribute to Teachers: Nominate your favorite educator by April 28

The Local 10 Tribute to Teachers campaign is back for a seventh consecutive year.

Since 2019, we’ve recognized exemplary educators in South Florida. They’ve included music teachers, environmentalists, a Head Start teacher whose ample vocabulary is not lost on his young students and a deaf and hard of hearing teacher who goes the extra mile.

“I have been an interpreter,” said Lauren Thibert of Peters Elementary in Plantation. “I’ve gone to doctor’s appointments just to make sure that they can get the clear communication that they deserve. I do summer camps with them, afterschool with them. I just love these kids.”

Thibert was one of five teachers recognized last year. In 2025, Local 10 wants to honor more deserving teachers and shine a spotlight on the good work they do every day.

Beginning March 31, we are asking Local 10 viewers to submit their Tribute to Teachers nominations.

If you know of a Pre K-12th grade teacher at a South Florida school who makes excellence a priority in and outside the classroom, we want to know about him or her.

Tell us, in 250 words or less, why your teacher is deserving of recognition. Along with your nomination form, be sure to upload a picture of your teacher.

A panel of judges will review all the entries received and select five extraordinary teachers. The teachers will have their stories of inspiration told on Local 10 News and shared on Local10.com. The honored teachers will also receive a special surprise. Deadline for nominations is Sunday, April 28.
