It’s why each year, the YMCA of South Florida hosts “Swim for Jenny” week. The free water safety and drowning prevention program began this Monday and runs through Friday.

Named after Jenny Nguyen, who at 12 years of age lost her life in a drowning incident, “Swim for Jenny” not only aims to teach kids how to swim. It also provides free swim attire to less fortunate kids to eliminate barriers to swim instruction.
Since the inception of “Swim for Jenny” in 2013, more than 25,000 people have participated with more than 100,000 swim lessons provided.
The program takes place at the Weston YMCA Family Center, located at 20201 Saddle Club Road in Weston.
The swim lessons begin promptly at 5 p.m.
