BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Broward County teenager is still on cloud nine after a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend Taylor Swift’s concert last week, thanks to a generous donation by a local auto dealership and Local 10 News.
Kayla Mills, 17, was crowned Miss Arc Broward County, a pageant designed to empower girls with disabilities.
Despite her lifelong battle with an autoimmune disorder that causes her immune system to attack her organs and glands, Kayla’s love for singing, especially Taylor Swift’s music, has helped her through tough times.
“Her singing really helps with her lungs and lifts her spirits,” her mother, Amy Mills, shared.
When Vera Cadillac Buick GMC heard about Kayla’s story through Local 10, , they decided to do something special for her.
The dealership surprised her with a “Swiftie swag bag,” two club tickets to Taylor Swift’s upcoming concert and a custom-made Escalade with a driver to escort her to and from the show.
“It’s a dream come true for her,” Kayla’s mom said. “Thank you, Channel 10, for making this happen. It’s something she’ll remember forever.”
