Art Basel Miami Beach attracts over 15 pop-up satellite fairs on Miami Art Week

MIAMI – Art Basel Miami Beach — open at the convention center by invitation for two days and to ticket holders for three days — prompted Miami Art Week to start across Biscayne Bay in 2017.

The list of venues and events in Miami-Dade County keeps growing. This year there are over 15 pop-up satellite fairs. Most require a general admission ticket purchased online and close on Sunday.

Here is a list of fairs by area:

SOUTH BEACH

Design Miami was the first satellite fair. It opened across from the convention center in 2005, as a door to Miami’s Design District area. General admission is $45. For more information about tickets, visit this page.

SCOPE opened along the beach near Ocean Drive and 8 Street. The satellite fair aims to be the home of “alternative and nomadic gallery models” and display cutting-edge artists’ explorations of technology. It opens from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., through Sunday. Untitled Art opened with about 170 fair booths along the beach near Ocean Drive and 12 Street. Kathy Huang and Jungmin Cho, the founder of Seoul’s White Noise gallery, curated this year’s “East Meets West” theme. General admission is $65. For more information, visit this page.

Aqua Art Miami opens from 12 to 9 p.m., Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Sunday, at 1530 Collins Ave. General admission is $27.50. For more information, visit this page.

DOWNTOWN MIAMI

Art Miami opened on Wednesday with nearly 150 galleries from all over the world. It is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday to Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, under a large air-conditioned tent at One Herald Plaza. For more information about tickets, visit this page.

CONTEXT opened with over 70 galleries from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday to Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday, next to Art Miami at One Herald Plaza. General admission is $65. For more information about tickets, visit this page.

NADA Miami is the fair of the New Art Dealers Alliance. General one-day admission is $55. It opens from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday to Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, at the Ice Palace Films Studios, 1400 N. Miami Ave. For more information, visit this page.

PRIZM is organized by Visit Prizm Projects, a San Francisco-based philanthropic organization, and opens with five gallery presentations from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, at 71 NW 14 St. There is also a schedule of events. General admission is $25. For more information, visit this page.

WYNWOOD

The Wynwood Pop-Up Show & photoMIAMI Fair, an official Miami Art Week event, opens at 10 a.m., on Saturday and Sunday, at 2300 N. Miami Ave. Tickets range from $9 to $12.

The other fairs in the area include Red Dot and Spectrum.

MIAMI-DADE

Afrikin started 2016 as a nonprofit event. The “Threads of Life in Fragments of Time” exhibit opens from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., from Monday to Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, at the Scott Galvin Community Center, 1600 NE 126 St., in North Miami.
