LONDRES (AP). – Kate, la Princesa de Gales, entregó el trofeo a Iga Swiatek después de la final femenina de Wimbledon el sábado, tras no asistir al partido del año pasado mientras se recuperaba del cáncer.
El sábado, fue recibida con una ovación de pie por la multitud de la Cancha Central al entrar en el Palco Real justo antes de que comenzara la final entre la octava cabeza de serie Swiatek y la 13ª Anisimova.
Kate ha sido la patrocinadora del All England Club desde 2016 y ha asistido regularmente a las finales masculinas y femeninas. Sin embargo, no estuvo presente cuando Barbora Krejcikova derrotó a Jasmine Paolini por el título femenino el año pasado.
Después del partido, participó en la presentación de trofeos en la cancha, entregando primero el trofeo de subcampeona a Anisimova y luego el Venus Rosewater Dish a Swiatek.
