Bill Bellamy brings ‘Top Billing Tour’ to South Florida, talks comedy, culture and dream guests

MIAMI – Actor and comedian Bill Bellamy is back in the spotlight with a stand-up tour that brings him to the Miami Improv this weekend, where he’s blending laughs, music and local talent.

Bellamy sat down with Local 10’s Alexis Frazier on Friday to talk about his new material, his journey from Def Comedy Jam to podcasting, and his love for performing in the 305.

“Oh my God, I love coming to Miami,” Bellamy said. “I got my DJ, I got great comics. I got some local comics from the area too, so we’re bringing like this organic sort of fusion of comedy and entertainment.”

Known for roles in classic films like Love Jones and How to Be a Player, Bellamy still brings the charisma that made him a breakout star in the 1990s.

His “Top Billing Tour” dives into themes of life and family, and Bellamy says it’s more than just comedy — it’s an experience.

When he’s not on stage, Bellamy hosts a podcast where he interviews entertainers, athletes and influencers, and he says he’s expanding the kinds of conversations he wants to have.

“This season I’m gonna open up the doors to more interesting interviews because there’s so many different eclectic people, especially the ones that I like bookmarked on the Instagram,” he said. “Some of these people on Instagram and TikTok, they are very, very, very influential. And have a point of view.”

His dream guests?

“I would love to get LeBron (James) before he retires. Juju Watkins for USC. She’s a great basketball player. I like what she’s doing for females. I would love to get Oprah. She’s a person that has influenced me … and I love her journey.”

Bellamy said his show is not just about laughs but also about creating a vibe, and this weekend’s Miami stop is no exception.
