Dirty Dining: Repeat roach offender ordered shut

State records show Dragon City in Davie was the only restaurant kitchen in South Florida that was ordered shut last week.

Records show Dragon City was ordered shut due to a roach issue and it is not the first time roaches have been spotted there.

No places were ordered shut in Miami-Dade and the Florida Keys, however, below there are several honorable mentions.

Dragon City was allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and re-inspection.

“Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. 1 live roach crawling on table next rice warmer in kitchen. 2 live roaches under unused slicer on shelf under prep table in kitchen. I live roach crawling next to closed container containing bowls under prep table in kitchen. Operator killed, cleaned and sanitized area during inspection. Repeat Violation.”

The walls have large openings by the when in shutters are pulled up during operation. As per approved plans, walls in the area are solid.”

“Cleaned and sanitized equipment or utensils not properly stored. Observed clean utensils not stored with handle facing up under steam table in kitchen. Observed pots stored on soiled surface above 3 compartment sink.”

“Cold holding equipment not maintained in good repair. Do not store time/temperature control for safety food in this unit until the unit is repaired. Observed reach in cooler in kitchen area at 48 F. Observed reach in cooler inside dry storage room across ice machine at 51 F.”
