Popular yogurt establishment ordered shut following complaint and roach issue

Recent food safety inspections revealed concerning violations across several establishments.

Menchie’s, at 15798 SW 58th Street, was ordered shut due to 21 violations, including a severe roach infestation.

Similarly, roaches were found crawling on rice containers at China Yan in Homestead. Peyton’s Place Bar and Grill in The Doubletree in Sunrise continues to grapple with a persistent flying insect problem, despite prior warnings dating back to October 2023.

All the places ordered shut have been allowed to re-open following an ordered cleanup and then a re-inspection.

One dead roach on floor near dry storage rack containing single service cups located near back exit door. Observed approximately 7 dead roaches inside cabinets located underneath yogurt toppings area at customer self-serve area. Observed 1 dead roach inside cabinet at front counter area.”

“Wall soiled with accumulated grease, food debris, and/or dust. Observed wall near soft serve machines at back preparation area soiled with old food debris.”

“Floor soiled/has accumulation of debris. Observed heavy accumulation of slimy substance and old food debris underneath yogurt dispensers at back preparation area. Observed walk in cooler floor soiled. Observed floor soiled with sticky substance in front of yogurt topping bar at customer self service area.”

“Nonfood-contact surface soiled with grease, food debris, dirt, slime or dust. Observed exterior of yogurt dispensers soiled with old food debris. Observed shelves above 3 compartment sink soiled with old food debris.”

“Ceiling/ceiling tiles/vents soiled with accumulated food debris, grease, dust, or mold-like substance. Observed at dining room.”

“Building components, attachments or fixtures in poor repair. Observed fan guard missing at walk in freezer.”

“No proof of required state approved employee training provided for employee hired more than 60 days ago.”
