BIG CYPRESS NATIONAL PRESERVE, Fla. – A professional snake hunter came just a foot shy of setting a Florida record.

Carl Nicholson from ‘C1 Catch 1 Python Hunts’ saw and caught a monster python in the Big Cypress National Preserve earlier this month.

The outfit posting to social media, “Last night’s hunt, almost 18-foot Python. Book today. Have a thrill of a lifetime!!”

Nicholson tells Local 10 News they never got to properly weigh the invasive snake, but that it was about 170 pounds.

A commenter telling Nicholson that he is happy for him, and that snakes have been Nicholson’s passion since they were kids.

If you want to ride with ‘C1 Catch 1 Python Hunts’, it is $500 for up to 3 people for a four-hour trip.

It costs $100 for an extra person, and there are no refunds.

Jake Waleri and Steven Gauta bagged the longest documented Burmese python ever caught in Florida.

They stumbled upon a 19-foot beast in the Big Cypress National Preserve near Naples in July 2023.

Nicholson’s catch would have definitely won the 2024 Florida Python Challenge, but he says they caught the snake two hours before the contest officially began.
