According to the Brevard County School District, Messineo allowed her 10-year-old child to miss 33 days of school for no excused reason during a 90-day-period between Jan. 23, 2024, and April 23, 2024.

The district also said that the girl had 79 unexcused absences in the 2022-2023 school year, and 102 unexcused absences in the 2021-2022 school year.

While serving the warrant, a deputy said, “she observed a plastic baggie containing a white/bluish substance in the defendant’s breast area.”

Messineo handed over the baggie.

The deputy performed a test on the substance, and said it came back positive for fentanyl.

Messineo was arrested and booked into the Brevard County Jail.

She is charged with felony drug possession and a misdemeanor charge of failing to require her child to attend school.

As of Friday morning, Messineo remained behind bars.
