CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Florida police have dropped the charges on a woman they said hit a car with her tree and took off.
Yanelly Guzman of Cape Coral spoke about the arrest in January and said she was pulling into a parking spot before her Christmas Eve shift at T.J. Maxx when she felt a bump.
Guzman said she realized she hit a low-hanging tree branch hovering over the parking spot.
Guzman told her manager about the incident, and they later called police, but things took a turn.
“Instead of him doing my incident report, he took me to jail for hit and run,” said Guzman.
Guzman said the officer handcuffed her and drove her to the Lee County jail where her mugshot was taken.
Guzman had to pay $150 to bail out of jail and has hired a lawyer to help expunge her charges.
