MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A husband and wife are dead after being shot in Miami-Dade County.
According to police, the husband's father is the one that pulled the trigger.
The double murder has startled neighbors in the quiet northwest Miami-Dade community.
Police officers surrounded the Lakes on the Green community after the couple was found shot to death.
“All of a sudden, there were police officers and they were targeting to the next house,” said neighbor Lenny Lakomy
The suspect, a 69-year-old man, allegedly shot his 49-year-old son and his daughter-in-law to death.
“When we looked out of the window, there was a body with blood,” Lakomy said.
Lakomy identified her neighbor, who lives along the 8900 block of Northwest 187th Avenue, as Carlos and said the shooting happened when the victims’ daughters were around.
“I heard the granddaughter shouting at the grandfather, ‘Abuelo, por que? Por que? Por que?’”
Police said the victims were coming home around 11 p.m. Saturday when they were met with gunfire. Some neighbors heard multiple gun shots ring out, and when the sun rose early Sunday, blood could be seen smeared on a nearby car.
Following the murders, investigators said the suspect barricaded himself inside a home and a stand-off ensued.
Police asked the suspect to come outside, negotiating for what neighbors said were two hours, before they made an arrest.
“Its very sad, especially around Christmas," Lakomy said. "I’m pretty sure these people are going to be marked forever -- especially the granddaughter.”
Police said they don’t have a motive and have not released the identity of the victims or the alleged shooter.
