MIAMI – One person has been taken to a hospital following an armed robbery in Hialeah that led to an attempted carjacking and shooting in Miami.
Officers from several agencies, including the Miami-Dade, city of Miami and Hialeah police departments, were at the scene as a portion of Northwest 36th Street remained shutdown Saturday night around 35th Avenue.
Police were on the trail of a group wanted in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in the neighboring city of Hialeah.
According to Hialeah police, the robbery took place at the T-Mobile store located at 410 Hialeah Drive.
The vehicle traveled into the City of Miami and, after arriving at the aforementioned scene, police said one person was immediately taken into custody.
A second person was shot while trying to carjack an innocent driver at the scene, according to Hialeah PD. He was taken by ambulance to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
It’s unclear who fired the gunshot.
Two additional people from inside the vehicle fled on foot, one of which was taken into custody as police searched inside of a set perimeter.
No officers were hurt. The surrounding area remains on lock down as police search for the other occupant of that vehicle.
