BOSTON – After failing to record a hit through seven innings, the Miami Marlins finally got to Red Sox right-handed pitcher Brayan Bello in the eighth, resulting in a 2-0 decision Thursday night at Fenway Park.

The hero was Jon Berti, whose line-drive single brought home Jean Segura, ultimately leading the Marlins to a three-game sweep against the Red Sox for the first time in franchise history.

Marlins left-hander Jesús Luzardo, despite not earning the victory, has now pitched 13.1 consecutive frames without allowing a run.

Many would say the pitching staff for the Marlins has been the best across Major League Baseball throughout the month of June.

Luis Arraez named All-Star Game starter

Nobody should be stunned at this, but Luis Arraez will represent the Marlins at the All-Star Game July 11 at T-Mobile Park in Seattle and start at second base.

Arraez has made a name for himself in Miami since his Marlins debut on March 30 vs. the Mets.

This marks the first time Arraez has been named a starter.

‘Jazzing’ it up

Jazz Chisholm Jr., with the Marlins out in front, 1-0, in the ninth, blasted a solo home run to center.

After being activated this past Tuesday from the injured list, Chisholm Jr. totaled five hits and two home runs.

14 over .500!

At 48-34, the Marlins have won five straight, six of seven and 19 of their last 25 matches. Their magical ride continues.

On Deck

Arguably their toughest challenge on the 2023 schedule, the Marlins will travel to Truist Park for a weekend date against the scorching-hot Atlanta Braves.

The first of three is slated for a 7:20 p.m. ET first pitch.
