MIRAMAR, Fla. – More than 400 young environmentalists from Somerset Academy in Miramar gathered to welcome Local 10 News’ Louis Aguirre and Local 10 News for a Don’t Trash Our Treasure event.
Aguirre spoke to the students about protecting our oceans and ways they can have an impact on climate change.
The students, who ranged from fifth- to eighth-graders, engaged in a special science curriculum in preparation for the event.
When the time came, the students had some very insightful questions for Aguirre.
The knowledge they gained at the event will soon be put into practice.
About 100 students and faculty volunteered for a beach cleanup on Sunday that was arranged through VolunteerCleanUp.org.
