Driver arrested after crashing vehicle into Lauderhill store

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A driver was arrested Tuesday night after crashing his car into the front of a business in Lauderhill, authorities confirmed.

The crash was reported at 1249 NW 31st Ave.

According to Lauderhill police Lt. Antonio Gonzalez, the driver, Alreegus D. Holmes, 51, was arrested on DUI charges.

Jail records show he also faces charges of driving with a suspended license and possession of an open container while driving.

Gonzalez said Holmes was intoxicated when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the business.

Lauderhill Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Levy said no injuries were reported, but there was significant structural damage to the business.

No other details were immediately released.

As of Wednesday morning, Holmes remained held at the Broward County Main Jail, where his bond had yet to be set.
