Miami-Dade Public Schools principal of the year receives new car

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade Public Schools Principal of the Year receives brand new 2024 Toyota Corolla with a three-year lease provided by Headquarter Toyota.

Chantal Osborne, who serves as principal of Lindsey Hopkins Technical Institute, won top honors as the District’s Principal of the Year.

Osborne has been principal at Lindsey Hopkins Technical College (LHTC) since 2021, managing the day-to-day operations of a student body that exceeds 2,300 students in various career technical programs. At LHTC, she has achieved a job placement rate of 91% and licensure rate of 100%. Osborne also won the 2006-2007 Teacher of the Year while at Jose Marti Middle School in Hialeah.

Romulo Espinosa of Carol City Middle School was also recognized as Assistant Principal of the Year.

Espinosa was recognized as Assistant Principal of the Year. A 19-year education veteran, Espinosa was a teacher for eight years and then continued as a math coach and a curriculum support specialist until becoming an Assistant Principal five years ago.

The announcement was made at the Dade Association of School Administrators’ (DASA) Annual Award Ceremony on Thursday, April 25th at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Miami.

The winners also received $2,000 cash and a three-to-five-day cruise with an ocean view stateroom courtesy of Royal Caribbean.
