MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A water quality advisory was issued Wednesday for Oleta River State Park in North Miami Beach and Collins Park in Miami Beach, the health department in Miami-Dade County confirmed.

According to the health department, tests completed Wednesday indicate that the water quality in both areas do not meet the recreational water quality criteria for enterococcus bacteria.

“Sampling conducted during regular water quality monitoring showed that the level of bacteria exceeds the level established by state guidelines,” the health department said in a news release.

The health department is therefore advising people to refrain from water-related activities in those areas due to an increased risk of illness to swimmers.

The advisory will be in effect until the bacteria levels are below the accepted health level.
