FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. ā Superintendent Howard Hepburn was preparing for the first day of school in Broward County. He said Monday morningās bus routes were being finalized.
High school students will go through new metal detectors before they get inside. Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students will be on campus without the 1200 building since it was demolished.
The school district also has new rules for students who have cell phones.
āWe are asking our students to put their cell phones in airplane mode,ā Hepburn said.
Hepburn said his list of goals for the 2024-25 school year was to maintain the districtās A-rating. Hepburn said the changes to schools with fewer students are in the works.
āThey wonāt see that impact this upcoming school year,ā Hepburn said. āTheyāll see that in the 2025-26 school year with our other redefining BCPS initiatives.ā
