BurgerFi files for bankruptcy

BurgerFi, a national burger restaurant chain, has filed for bankruptcy.

According to a media release, the Florida based chain filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. District Court of Delaware on Wednesday.

The chain, which is comprised of 93 restaurants, also owns Anthony’s Coal fired Pizza.

BurgerFi said franchise-owned locations are exempt from the filings.

The business is one of several others across the country filing for bankruptcy protection. Earlier this year Red Lobster as well as Buca Di Beppo also filed for bankruptcy.
