MIRAMAR, Fla. – Two people were found dead Friday after police responded to a “suspicious call involving gunshots” at a Miramar apartment complex, a spokesperson for the city’s police department said.
Miramar police Detective Yessenia Diaz said the crime scene was in the 6000 block of Southwest 36th Court.
The victims were adults, she said.
Authorities didn’t provide additional information, including the victims’ identities or whether a suspect or suspects was identified or in custody.
Residents at the apartment building said the victims were a man and woman who lived at the complex, possibly a couple.
“I don’t know what happened, but it went to hell,” resident Aaron Francis said. “It was probably something between them and it went bad. I heard his daughter scream.”
Francis said he heard a loud noise and his son heard what sounded like gunshots.
“Hecame out here to check and opened the door and when he opened it, he just looked on the ground and two bodies right here,” Francis said. “He literally hit the guy’s head with my door.”
His doormat was still soaked in blood.
“All of this was soaked full of blood,” Francis said. “Blood was dripping down there like it was water.”
“This investigation is ongoing,” Diaz said in an email just before 12:45 Friday afternoon. “We will provide a follow-up as soon as one is available.”
