HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – As evacuations related to Hurricane Milton continued Wednesday in Tampa, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper found a dog tied to a barbed wire fence pole in a grassy flooded area.
The FHP trooper shared the video of the scared dog, an English Bull Terrier mix, in belly-high water, abandoned along Interstate 75, near Pebble Creek, north of Tampa.

It was raining when the trooper got closer to the white dog with a brownish spot around the right ear. The dog growled and barked.
“I don’t blame you,” the trooper said. “It’s okay buddy.”
FHP shared the video on X with a message: “Do NOT do this to your pets please.”
WEATHER AUTHORITY: Time to evacuate is running out
Federal emergency officials warned Milton was a “dangerous storm.” Animal shelters were working to rescue pets from evacuation areas and overcrowded shelters in Florida.
Wings of Rescue, the Best Friends Animal Society, the Animal Rescue League, the Alaqua Animal Refuge, Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, The Bissell Pet Foundation, and other nonprofit organizations had ongoing efforts to help dogs, cats,and other animals.
