Hurricane Milton hurts roofers trying to keep up with demand, shortages

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – This year’s hurricane season has been challenging for roofers in South Florida.

Joe Paletz said he is a third-generation roofer in the area and had never experienced delays like the ones he has been experiencing. He has over 70 jobs on hold.

Paletz said Hurricane Milton is going to worsen the situation.

“There is only a few tile manufacturers in the state of Florida,” Paletz said. “They are all in the west, northwest Florida area, Sumpterville, Arcadia. These are places they got to shut down. They get damage.”

Paletz said there also delays related to damage claims.

“They try their best, and it’s getting better but these storms do not help out,” Paletz said adding, “We can’t control mother nature, just the name of the game.”
