MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A Miami-Dade police officer is being recognized for the hard work he does for the South Florida community.
Officer Marcel Vera was awarded the Departmental Employee Lifesaving Award during a ceremony on Monday.
Officer Vera responded to a slew of violent crimes across the Northside district this year. In June, he apprehended a suspect who kidnapped a woman. In May he located a stolen car and helped a victim who was shot multiple times.
“This award is not about me it’s all about all the people who helped me get to this point of my life, all the people who taught me the ropes and showed me the way also my parents who gave me guidance in life,” said Vera.
The Miami-Dade Police Department said his keen thinking and astute actions played a vital role in ensuring the safety of the South Florida community.
Vera was also selected as a distinguished officer in the month of September.
