1 detained after woman shot in Lauderhill, police say

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – Lauderhill police are investigating a shooting that they said left a woman hospitalized and another detained Wednesday morning.

It happened near the 400 block of Northwest 33rd Avenue, just north of Broward Boulevard.

Police told Local 10′s Janine Stanwood that a woman was shot in front of a home in the area following an argument with another individual.

Officers arrived at the scene just before 11 a.m. and observed a woman suffering from a single gunshot wound.

Police confirmed the victim was transported to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Sky 10 flew over the home, capturing footage of a woman running to the scene and embracing who appeared to be the victim’s family members outside. A woman was later seen in handcuffs in the back of a police car.

Detectives were also seen focusing on a white Honda that was parked in the area where the shooting occurred.

Authorities have not yet released information about the victim or the person detained, and a motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time.
