MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Several Miami-Dade police officers are preparing to embark on a new journey as dozens of members of the department were promoted on Monday.
Several officers were promoted to sergeant and three sergeants were promoted to the rank of lieutenant.
The event will be the final promotional ceremony hosted by MDPD prior to next week’s election.
That is when voters will select a new sheriff for Miami-Dade County for the first time in several decades.
The department will transition to a sheriff’s office in 2025.
