PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – A Pembroke Pines homeowner was alarmed after video surveillance captured someone kicking his political yard sign and leaving a threatening message behind.
That homeowner did not want to reveal his identity, but shared the video with Local 10 News.
In the video, a man can be seen wandering over to a sign that read “Veterans for Trump” and kicking it before walking off.
He returned a minute later, focused on the home, and then came back a third time to leave a note in the home’s mailbox.
“First thing is, I was worried about my home and I worried about my kids and my wife who was there, because I wasn’t there at the time,” said the homeowner.
He said the energy and effort that this took was alarming, let alone what was in that letter, which went after the man as a veteran for supporting a “lowlife pig.”
“It talks about how I was a disgrace to my country and a disgrace to the U.S. military because of my choice in candidate,” the man said. “And at the very end of the letter, it actually tells me to ‘go to hell.’”
This is something that seems to happen every election cycle, as debates are held, not on the ballot, but instead on front lawns.
There have been a number of signs stolen from homes across Plantation, and angry residents reported thefts in Fort Lauderdale as well.
Banners were taken down repeatedly further south in Miami’s Coconut Grove neighborhood.
The mysterious note in Pembroke Pines has now caught the attention of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
Residents said, though, that it’s time to lower the temperature because when all this dust settles, you’ll still be neighbors.
