Wilton Manors goes wicked as Halloween bash draws large crowd

WILTON MANORS, Fla. – Wilton Drive transformed into a spook-filled scene as “Wicked Manors” brought its 17th annual Halloween celebration to life on Thursday.

The massive event, billed as the Southeast’s largest Halloween party, is expected to draw around 30,000 revelers dressed in creative costumes, ranging from superheroes and goblins to this year’s themed favorite: “Island of Misfits.”

“I think an event like tonight is good for everybody,” said Howard Marr, a local organizer. “It’s a night to forget about politics and news, to worry less about everyday stresses, and to just be in the moment with one another.”

6 p.m. report:

The festivities kick off with a family-friendly focus, starting with a kids’ costume contest that invites the youngest participants to showcase their looks.

Throughout the evening, children and their families can enjoy trick-or-treating from local businesses along the Wilton Drive strip, set against a Halloween-themed stage with decorations designed to bring the ghoulish spirit to life.

As night falls, the event shifts to a more adult-centered celebration, with the much-anticipated adult costume contest serving as one of the main highlights.

The theme, “Island of Misfits,” is expected to inspire a variety of interpretations, with costumes that will range from whimsical and humorous to spine-tingling.

Event organizers are hopeful that this year’s celebration will allow attendees to escape from daily stresses, especially in the heated political climate, and to come together for a night of pure enjoyment.

Wilton Manors officials, expecting thousands to pack the streets, have implemented extensive safety measures. A substantial police presence will be stationed along Wilton Drive, with officers on foot and vehicle patrols ensuring crowd safety and managing traffic.

Event-goers can expect a jam-packed schedule filled with costume contests, live music, and plenty of Halloween festivities. With the promise of one of the most spirited nights in the Southeast, Wilton Manors’ Wicked Manors is set to deliver another unforgettable Halloween celebration.
