Local law enforcement, federal agents preparing to provide security on Election Day

Federal agents will be monitoring election crimes from their headquarters in Broward County on Tuesday.

Agents will not be at polling sites.

That said, Local 10 News was given a closer look at what they are doing and some of the operations and crimes agents will be on the lookout for as they work to protect the integrity of this election.

6 p.m. report:

Those federal agents are working around the clock from their election crimes command post at the FBI Miami headquarters office in Miramar.

“Ballot fraud, voter fraud, civil rights violations, campaign finance violations threats to elections workers,” said Assistant Special Agent Ryan James.

Cyber security attacks on our election structure also being monitored.

One room at the HQ, composed of members of the FBI, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Homeland Security and even the U.S. Postal Service.

That office is just one of 56 FBI field offices, each with their own elections command post, who will remain in constant communication with their Washington D.C. headquarters for days after the election.

“The more intelligence that we can share with our partners and other offices,” said James. “It just strengthens our posture to make sure that the election is fair.”

But as voters head to the polls Tuesday, it won’t be federal agents on the ground at polling sites, it will be local law enforcement.

Local 10 News has already spotted West Palm Beach police securing the Palm Beach Convention Center, where Donald Trump will hold his watch party, and sheriff’s deputies at security check points at Mar-A-Lago.

Local law enforcement in Miami-Dade and Broward have said they will remain in constant communication with state and federal partners as some are even increasing man power and patrols on election day.

“We anticipate to be very busy with information from the general public,” said James.

If you know someone that is participating in election crimes or if you have a tip, you are urged to call 1-800-CALL-FBI.
