Caught on camera: Man breaks into Miramar home while owners sleeping

MIRAMAR, Fla. – A man was put behind bars after being accused of sneaking his way into a family’s home in Miramar while they were sleeping. The whole act was caught on camera.

Authorities say Miguel Columna, 36, crawled into a home just after 1:30 Saturday morning but made out with only two cellphones. However, he left the homeowners pretty shocked and terrified.

“So what he did, he crawled underneath the garage,” one of the homeowners, who didn’t want to be identified, said. “My wife leaves it a little open for the cats to get in and out.”

He then went straight into their laundry room and kitchen, making plenty of noise the whole time.

“So this gentleman walked in, unlocked the door, turned the lights on, walked through the house like it was his house, made a lot of noise, and two minutes later, he took my two cellphones,” the homeowner said. “To have the audacity to walk into somebody’s home and turn the lights on and walk around like it’s his own house while it’s occupied.”

According to an arrest report, another neighbor later confronted Columna, who was wearing a reflective vest, and police arrested him.

He appeared in bond court this week, facing two counts of burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Online, Columna has posted photos with former presidents, and says he holds an MBA from a prestigious university and started his own business, but then became addicted to drugs.

“Just the way he was walking, staring into my phone while he was walking around my house, just leads you to believe that he’s not all with it,” the homeowner said.

A judge sent Columna’s bond at $50,000.
