Police said the victim ran to his bedroom and Rodriguez followed him, slashing him on the arm and face.
According to the report, Rodriguez then fled the scene through the stairwell.
Police arrived a short time later and found the victim in the hallway, holding clothing to his wounds to stop the bleeding.
Police said a perimeter was established and officers found Rodriguez hiding in a tree.
He was taken into custody as his brother was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center where he was listed as stable.
Police said Rodriguez was also taken to JMH as he had an injury to his right ear that he had already wrapped in bandage prior to police arriving. It wasn’t immediately clear how he sustained the injury.
According to the arrest report, Rodriguez provided a statement to police as he was in the Emergency Room, however his statement was redacted from the publicly released report.
He faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Rodriguez was not yet appearing in the jail online database on Thursday morning as it appeared he was still hospitalized.
