Miami-Dade police identified the victim as Anjali Persaud, 22, a woman who recently graduated from Florida International University.

She completed her undergraduate studies this past summer, authorities said.

5 p.m. report:

According to the MDPD, the crash happened just before 8:25 a.m. in the area of Southwest Fourth Street and 109th Avenue, near an apartment building catering to FIU students. The woman lived there, police said. A woman who lives in the area told Local 10 News that she was crossing the street at the time of the crash.

An MDPD spokesperson said medics took the victim to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Video from Sky 10 shows the bus marked as belonging to a company called Lilyā€™s School Bus.

Authorities have not yet determined whether the male bus driver, who remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, will face any citations or charges.

ā€œWhat our detectives have relayed is that the bus remained in the roadway the entire time this incident occurred,ā€ MDPD Detective Andre Martin said. ā€œThe bus did not travel onto the sidewalk. They are currently here on scene processing for any evidence that can give us some insight into how this tragedy occurred.ā€

FIU also announced that counseling services will be available to students on campus who may have known the victim.
