Suspect jumps from Seven Mile Bridge after fleeing from cops for speeding

MONROE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ A man was caught on camera jumping off the Seven Mile Bridge in the Florida Keys in an effort to evade authorities.

According to authorities, the Florida Highway Patrol tried to pull over the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Joshua Lapidus, for speeding on Tuesday.

He took off, weaving in and out of traffic, at one point hitting speeds over 100 mph, police said.

He eventually got out and jumped from the bridge, only to be picked up by a sheriffā€™s office marine unit.

Deputies said Lapidus was heard saying ā€œI got stonedā€ as he was being taken into custody.

He was later transferred to the custody of FHP.
