Motorcycle ride held to honor 9-year-old Florida City gun violence victim

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ A special motorcycle ride was held Friday night to honor a South Florida child who was the victim of gun violence.

Several bike groups rode together in southwest Miami-Dade County to honor 9-year-old Antavious Scott, who was gunned down in Florida City earlier this month.

Scott was playing football with his friends near Lucy Street and Redland Road when he was shot by a stray bullet.

The motorcycle groups said it was important for them to ride in solidarity to spread awareness about gun violence.

ā€œWe do have a few family members, a few club members who grew up in Florida City,ā€ said one of the ride organizers. ā€œSo we just wanted to stand in unity with the family. To let them know theyā€™re not alone and that weā€™re not standing for senseless killings and violence of children.ā€

Police are still searching for whoever pulled the trigger.

Anyone with information is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
