HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Debra Gronvold, the manager of Hollywood Jaycees Hall, said they were hosting a baby shower on Saturday that went on until Sunday morning when gunshots rang out outside in the parking lot. The shooting killed two and injured two others, police said.
Police officers found one person dead in the parking lot at 2930 Hollywood Boulevard, and the second victim died at Memorial Regional Hospital.
“It wasn’t a crazy party,” Gronvold said during a news conference.
According to Deanna Bettineschi, a spokeswoman for the Hollywood Police Department, police officers found the first shooting victim dead shortly after 1:30 a.m., and fire rescue personnel took three injured to Memorial Regional Hospital.
“We’re not sure if it was a friend, a guest of the clients ... they don’t know who it was,” Gronvold said.
Family members have identified the victims as Taron Nicks and Octavious Jackson.
During his college years, Jackson played football for Florida State University. He was also a father of two.
The pair who went to school together as kids were killed in the parking lot of Jaycee Hall Sunday morning when gunfire rung out.
