LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A 3-year-old girl was rescued from a Broward County lake early Thursday morning.
It happened in the area of the 6200 block of South Falls Circle Drive in Lauderhill at approximately 1 a.m.
According to authorities, a Good Samaritan saw the child running toward a lake in a parking lot area and called for help.
5 p.m. report:
Lauderhill police officers responded and found the girl already in the water, which was up to her waist, and quickly pulled her out.
The little girl’s grandmother, who did not want to be identified, told Local 10 News that her granddaughter, who is on the spectrum, wandered off from her mother.
“Everyone is very distraught right now because of what happened,” she said. “They are very grateful police were able to get her, (that) nothing bad happened to her and that she’s safe.”
The girl was taken to the hospital as a precaution by her parents, but family members said she is fine.
