Man arrested in connection with multiple package thefts in Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A 34-year-old man was arrested earlier this month in connection with multiple package thefts in Hollywood, authorities confirmed Wednesday.

According to Hollywood police, Felix Curry Payne, of North Miami Beach, was arrested Dec. 5 on five counts of burglary.

An arrest report states that officers were called to the area of North Surf Road and Oak Street just after 2 p.m. that day regarding a man stealing packages in the neighborhood.

Police said a caller stated that the man was “taking packages, ripping them open and stuffing the stolen goods into a bag he was carrying.”

According to authorities, officers spotted the suspect, later identified as Payne, in the area when they arrived.

He was taken into custody and was found with the stolen goods in his possession, police said.

Authorities said officers then searched the area and located additional victims who had their packages stolen.

“Thanks to the quick action of officers, the stolen items were returned to their rightful owners,” Hollywood police spokeswoman Deanna Bettineschi said in a news release.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Payne remained held at the Joseph V. Conte Facility on a $60,000 bond.
