MIAMI – Holiday travel is picking up this week, with it expected to hit high gear on Saturday.
Miami International Airport is bracing for around 165,000 passengers per day during the holiday travel season.
According to AAA, this year could have a record breaking number of holiday travelers. They are projecting 119.3 million people will be hitting the road.
The mad dash of holiday travel at MIA is expected to see three million passengers travel through, starting Saturday until Jan. 6.
AAA anticipates most of the traveling this year, about 90%, will be by car.
Per AAA, the average domestic plane ticket is $830 while international flights are 13% more expensive, averaging $1,630 a ticket.
