HIALEAH, Fla. – Hialeah police officers responded to a stolen vehicle report early Monday morning, detaining two teenage suspects following an extensive search, authorities confirmed.
Investigators said at approximately 3 a.m., Hialeah police officers were dispatched to the area of West 16th Avenue and West 38th Place after receiving reports of a stolen black 2024 Cadillac Escalade.
Noon report:
The victim, who was actively pursuing the stolen vehicle, communicated with the Florida Highway Patrol to relay its location, police said.
“They were driving a little bit slow and I was on the phone with the police dispatch, obviously I was letting them know where we were,” said the victim, whose first name is John. “All four of them jumped out of the car and started jumping into different houses.”
The pursuit ended when police said the SUV was abandoned by four male suspects near West 14th Avenue and West 39th Place.

Authorities said the SUV, reported stolen from the driveway of a residence near the 11000 block of Westwood Lake Drive in Miami, was recovered.
Police identified the arrested suspects as 18-year-olds Jakari Ford and Rakeem Hughey, both of South Miami.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to locate the remaining suspects. Police also told Local 10 News that the owner of the car was not hurt in the incident.
As officers canvassed the area, they were seen with residents and requesting surveillance footage from doorbell cameras to aid in identifying the suspects.
