MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Lottery players are dreaming of a massive jackpot this holiday season.
The Mega Millions prize has soared to its seventh-largest jackpot in history, nearly $1 billion.
The winning numbers are 11, 14, 38, 45 and 46, with a Mega Ball of 3.
On Tuesday, before the drawing, South Florida lotto players lined up to buy tickets.
“You never know, you never know, so people are trying, they’re dreaming about it,” said store clerk Samuel Attarie, at the Exprezo Ives Chevron in northeast Miami-Dade.
Chances of winning the massive prize are about one in over 320 million.
“Everyone has a little chance too, and why not to play it,” said Alan Rubenstein.
There have been only three Mega Millions winners in 2024, the fewest since the game began.
That means one last winner may be due before the new year, and Florida may be a lucky state.
A man in Neptune Beach won the largest jackpot ever in 2023, worth $1.6 billion.
“I’m a truck driver and I’ve been playing all around the United States,” said Christopher Hicks. “Usually always California, Miami is the lucky places to hit. So hopefully I’m getting some luck over here in Miami.”
