OPA-LOCKA, Fla. – A gruesome discovery was made Wednesday in Opa-locka.
Residents were shocked to find a body floating in a canal along the 800 block of Atlantic Avenue.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and recovered a man’s body from the water.
One witness told Local 10 her mother had first noticed something in the water, but didn’t immediately recognize that it was a person.
“I was in my room doing my makeup – me and my mom were planning to go out to the beach during the day, but my mom’s friend that lives a few houses down came over to say Happy New Year because we haven’t seen her in a while, and she noticed that there was something floating in the water, but she didn’t immediately get like shocked because she thought it was, like, a doll,” the witness said.
Police said no foul play is suspected, but the investigation continues.
