Man found dead in Tamarac; family suspects alcohol may have contributed

Deputies are investigating after a man was found dead in Tamarac early Saturday morning. (WPLG)

TAMARAC, Fla. – A 31-year-old man was found dead early Saturday morning in Tamarac, with his family suggesting that excessive alcohol consumption may have contributed to his death.

The man was identified by relatives as Onelio Elias Garcia, who they said lived in apartments across the street from where his body was discovered near the 5200 block of North State Road 7.

Family members told Local 10 News that Garcia is survived by two children, a son and daughter, ages 10 and 9.

Other member of Garcia’s family, who also reside in Tamarac, said they do not suspect foul play at this time but are awaiting further details from investigating deputies.

The family, who requested to remain off-camera, noted that Garcia was known to drink heavily.

At this time, authorities have not released additional information regarding the cause of death.
