Questions remain after woman shot in head while driving SUV on I-595 in Davie

DAVIE, Fla. – Authorities are investigating after they said a woman was shot in the head while driving a black SUV on Interstate 595 in Davie near the Hiatus Road exit Friday night.

The shooting occurred just before 8 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the busy South Florida highway.

First responders found the victim injured and rushed her to Broward Health Medical Center, where authorities confirmed that she remains in recovery as of Sunday evening.

Florida Highway Patrol officials said troopers blocked the westbound lanes for hours while detectives searched for clues.

10 a.m. report:

Investigators said they’re looking into whether an older model Dodge vehicle may be linked to the shooting.

It remains unclear if the incident was a case of random road rage or a targeted attack.

No more details about the shooting were immediately released.
