MARGATE, Fla. – Three people were killed and two other individuals were injured in a multi-vehicle crash at a busy Margate intersection late Tuesday night, police confirmed Wednesday.
The crash occurred just before midnight at Rock Island Road and Royal Palm Boulevard, where Margate police said a white BMW traveling southbound collided with a silver Honda Accord heading eastbound on Royal Palm Boulevard.
The BMW then struck a black Toyota Camry traveling northbound on Rock Island Road, according to investigators.
Police said Brayan Steven Wilches, 24, the driver of the Honda, and rear-seat passenger Diana Nino, 47, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Honda’s front passenger, Nancy Sanchez, 27, was transported to Broward Health North but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival, authorities said.
The BMW’s driver, Jeremiah Anderson, 26, of Lauderhill, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the same hospital, police confirmed.
Witness described the deadly crash to Local 10 News reporter Roy Ramos.
“It was really bad,” a witness said. “The cars were completely destroyed (and) the Accord was completely destroyed.
Authorities also confirmed that a passenger in the BMW was hospitalized with serious injuries, while the Toyota Camry driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Margate Fire Rescue.
Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation and urged anyone with information to contact Traffic Homicide Investigator Drew Germann at 954-972-7111.
