MIRAMAR, Fla. – A large fire erupted early Thursday morning at a home in Miramar, displacing the residents who live there.
According to Miramar Fire Rescue, the fire was reported at 2:55 a.m. in the 3300 block of Southwest 63rd Avenue.
MFR officials said firefighters arrived at the scene and found that the flames were spreading to vehicles that were parked outside the home.
The fire was extinguished at about 3:30 a.m.
“I just have to put God in front -- I can’t say nothing more,” Derrick Howe told Local 10 News.
Howe and two other people were inside the home when the fire started.
“Somewhere in the 2 o’clock hour, I saw a light outside, so I said, ‘What’s that cop doing here?’” Howe said.
Howe told Local 10 that he was in his bedroom when the fire started. He said he saw some type of light flashing outside and when he looked, he saw the flames.
“The whole place (was on) fire,” he said.
According to Howe, an elderly man lives with him who has trouble seeing, so he quickly helped him get out.
“We have no time to grab anything,” Howe said.
No other homes were affected by the fire and no injuries were reported, officials confirmed.
The State Fire Marshal will investigate the cause of the fire.
The American Red Cross was requested to assist the residents impacted by the blaze.
