FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man was killed in shooting Thursday morning outside of a warehouse in Fort Lauderdale, police confirmed.
Fort Lauderdale police said officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1600 block of Southwest Third Avenue just after 11:20 a.m.
Upon arrival, investigators said they found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Noon report:
Sky 10 hovered over the scene at approximately 11:35 a.m., where officers were surveilling the crime scene.
“As soon as we walked into our shop he was walking out and five seconds later we heard gunshots,” said witness Pedro Lopez. “We just ducked down, came out a minute later, and he was on the ground.”
Witnesses told Local 10 News that the incident appeared to be a targeted shooting.
Yellow crime scene tape blocked off the area, with evidence markers scattered on the ground and first responders nearby. A body could be seen lying on the pavement outside of the warehouse.
Casey Liening, a spokeswoman with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, said the culprit or culprits fled the scene quickly in a vehicle after the shooting occurred.
No additional details about the victim, possible suspects, or the vehicle involved were immediately released.
