Jail records show Mariah Hamilton, 24, was arrested Sunday on a warrant, which appeared to be out of Broward County.
Local 10 News has requested a copy of her arrest warrant, however, according to allhiphop.com, Hamilton had been under scrutiny for failing to appear at Melly’s first trial and also faced allegations of witness tampering.
She was apparently arrested after re-entering the U.S.
Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, is awaiting retrial on double murder charges.
He is accused of fatally shooting fellow rappers Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams while they were inside a Jeep Compass on Oct. 26, 2018, after a recording session with Melly at a studio in Broward County.
Melly’s co-defendant, Cortland “Bortland” Henry, is accused of driving the Jeep and helping to cover up the murders.
Melly’s first trial ended in a mistrial in 2023 after the 12-member panel could not reach a unanimous verdict after three days of deliberations.
As of Monday morning, Hamilton remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as she waited to be transferred to Broward.
