OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office are investigating a hit-and-run that they said left a woman dead on Wednesday night in Oakland Park.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office said deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the scene, where they found a woman who they say had been struck by a vehicle near Northwest 38th Street and Northwest Ninth Avenue.
Authorities say the driver fled the area after the collision, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies confirmed that an investigation is ongoing, with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit now leading the case.
No other details about the victim, suspect or vehicle involved in the crash have been disclosed at this time.
