FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. ā Authorities offered a reward of up to $5,000 on Friday for information leading to an arrest in a shooting that they say occurred outside the NAACP office in Broward County earlier this week.

On Thursday, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department released an image of a person of interest they want to question in connection to the Jan. 27 shooting that occurred around 11 p.m. at the office located at 1100 Sistrunk Blvd.
Police described the suspect as a Black male with a stocky build who was wearing a gray hoodie, blue pants, a black hat, and black slides at the time of the incident.
Chief William C. Schultz told Local 10 News on Friday two witnesses have come forward with details relevant to the investigation, which also involves the FBI, ATF and the Broward Sheriffās Office.
Marsha A. Ellison, president of the Broward NAACP, raised concerns that the shooting and the subsequent police response may be tied to the organizationās opposition to reinstating a former Fort Lauderdale police officer through arbitration.
Authorities said the Fort Lauderdale Police Departmentās Gun Intelligence Unit is leading the investigation. Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis vowed that authorities will exhaust all efforts to find the shooter.
